1. Queens Democratic Party endorses Cuomo in mayoral race

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo secured the endorsement of the Queens Democratic Party on Sunday, strengthening his frontrunner status in the race for mayor.

Cuomo, a Queens native, received the backing of the borough’s Democratic organization and its chairman, Meeks. The endorsement marks a significant show of support as Cuomo seeks a political comeback following his 2021 resignation. 

2. Driver faces manslaughter charges for Brooklyn car crash that killed mother, two young girls

Two young girls and their mother are dead after being struck by a car Saturday afternoon in Brooklyn, police said.

The victims, ages 5, 8 and 34, were killed in a crosswalk at the intersection of Ocean Parkway and Quentin Road in Gravesend around 1 p.m., the NYPD said.

On Sunday, the NYPD announced a slew of charges against 32-year-old Miriam Yarimi, including three counts of second-degree manslaughter, four counts of second-degree assault and one aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

3. New Gateway CEO says no indication Trump admin may try to impede Hudson Tunnel project

The new official overseeing the nation’s biggest infrastructure project — the $16 billion Gateway rail tunnel beneath the Hudson River — says the work is moving ahead on schedule and there is no indication the Trump administration may try to impede it.

Tom Prendergast, who previously led the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, was appointed CEO of the Gateway Development Commission in January. He sat down with Spectrum News for an interview earlier this week in Washington, which he was visiting for meetings.
