A Wind Advisory is in effect for New York City until 10 p.m. on Thursday, with wind gusts up to 50 mph possible.

The five boroughs could see downed tree limbs and a few power outages, according to the National Weather Service.

The city is advising New Yorkers to be cautious walking outside, biking and driving.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels has temporarily barred empty tractor-trailers and tandem trucks from crossing the following bridges due to the windy conditions, with the ban expected to stay in effect until 10 p.m.:

  • Bronx-Whitestone Bridge
  • Cross Bay Bridge
  • Henry Hudson Bridge
  • Marine Parkway Bridge
  • Robert F. Kennedy Bridge
  • Throgs Neck Bridge
  • Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge

The city’s Department of Buildings, meanwhile, has advised property owners, crane operators and contractors to make sure equipment at their buildings and work sites is secure.

“Property owners must consider the safety of their buildings and construction sites, including cranes, suspended and supported scaffolding, hoists, and any other building appurtenances that may come loose from exposure to high winds,” the agency said in a release.

Below-freezing temperatures will accompany the wind throughout the day, with feels-like readings expected to be in the teens and single digits in the afternoon.

The gusty conditions, which stem from a stalled storm, are expected to subside Friday.
