Evyal in Brooklyn has been turning heads in the culinary scene for its modern spin on Iranian dishes, and landing a spot on The New York Times’ list of best restaurants in the city.

During an interview with “Mornings On 1” Friday, chef and owner Ali Saboor said he strives to make the food “approachable” so that those who may be unfamiliar with Iranian or Persian food can feel comfortable trying it.

“I want people to come in and just relax and enjoy and just be able to dive in,” he said. “And a lot of people are curious.”

He said he sees the restaurant as a “bridge between two worlds,” allowing him to combine his Iranian heritage with his American upbringing.
