College leaders said they want to identify a sustainable solution in the ever-changing times of NIL and player transfers. There was no firm conclusion to the talks, but multiple stakeholders involved had positive things to say following the discussion.

2. Wisconsin audits find lack of tracking of DEI spending at university system and state agencies

Republican-ordered audits released Friday found that Wisconsin state agencies and the University of Wisconsin system have failed to track the millions of dollars they spent on diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, making it difficult to fully assess the initiatives.

3. Kenosha nonprofit restores Lake Michigan's ecosystem by stocking 40,000 salmon

A mission to conserve our Great Lakes is underway at the Kenosha Sportfishing and Conservation Association Salmon Rearing Pond. The nonprofit group is working to restore Lake Michigan’s ecosystem by stocking it with salmon annually. On Friday, 40,000 chinook salmon fingerlings were brought to the rearing pond by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

4. China hits back at U.S., will raise tariffs on American goods from 84% to 125%

China announced Friday that it will raise tariffs on U.S. goods from 84% to 125% — the latest salvo in an escalating trade war between the world's two largest economies that has rattled markets and raised fears of a global slowdown.

5. MPS holds virtual town hall to address lead concerns

Parents of students who attend the seven Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) that were found to have lead hazards got the chance to share their frustrations and have their questions answered at a virtual town hall, hosted by MPS, on Thursday night. One at a time, parents got the chance to address MPS leadership and the Milwaukee Health Commissioner. The town hall comes as schools remain closed for a fourth week for ongoing lead hazard clean up. Many are wondering what that means.
