The MTA plans to improve service along two dozen bus routes starting this spring, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Tuesday.
Sixteen local routes and eight express routes in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island will see reduced wait times and more dependable service, Hochul said in a release.
The upgrades are part of an effort to improve public transit in the boroughs around Manhattan as congestion pricing rolls out, the release said.
The tolling program — which will charge E-ZPass users a base fare of $9 to enter Manhattan below 60th Street — is set to take effect on Jan. 5.
“New Yorkers deserve better, faster bus service — and that’s exactly what our investments will deliver,” Hochul said in a statement. “By improving bus routes throughout the outer boroughs, we’re making commutes shorter, ensuring more reliable service and providing affordable transit options for millions of riders.”
