The MTA restored subway service along the 7 train line after a track fire led to a partial suspension Monday morning.
Service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Queensboro Plaza and 34th Street-Hudson Yards due to a track fire near Vernon Boulevard, MTA officials said.
It wasn't immediately clear what caused the track fire.
The FDNY said no injuries were reported in connection with the blaze.
Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the agency would "provide New York with a 30-day extension as discussions continue."
The MTA lost $3.9 billion in 2020, with average weekday ridership dropping from about 5.5 million to around 500,000 by April 2020.
MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber noted that MetroCards will continue to work at turnstiles for “at least six months” after that.
OMNY, or One Metro New York, will eventually replace the MTA’s MetroCard system.
