Chely Wright was a country music star when she came out publicly as a lesbian in 2010. A decision that she says derailed her career but did not deter her.

Wright has continued to make music, advocate for diversity and inclusion, and write.

She has written a new book called “My Moment: 106 Women on Fighting for Themselves.” The question Wright asks women is “What was the moment in your life when you realized you were ready to fight for yourself?

Wright joined “News All Day” on Women Wednesday to share more about her journey of coming out and thriving.

She says she hopes the book will inspire and enlighten both women and men, creating a new ecosystem of storytelling and sharing.

A musical about Chely Wright’s life is in the works with Jean Smart on board to produce it.
