1. Bystander shot in back in Times Square, police say

A 21-year-old man was shot in the back in Times Square late Sunday afternoon, police said, just steps away from where three people, including a four-year-old girl, were hit by bullets last month. Police say the man was a bystander and was struck by a stray bullet that was fired during a dispute between two groups of men. The man was taken to Bellevue Hospital. As of Sunday, police had not yet made any arrests. 

2. Crowds turn out for annual Pride celebrations

Crowds returned to Manhattan Sunday for the city's annual Pride celebrations. While the 51st annual march was mostly virtual, there were some in-person events, and thousands turned out for the Queer Liberation March, which serves as a counter-rally to the main Pride march. This year's celebration was the subject of heated debate after NYC Pride, the organizer of the main Pride march, banned the NYPD and other law enforcement groups, including the Gay Officers Action League, from taking part in or patrolling any events. GOAL held its own event on Sunday. 

3. Clash at Washington Square Park leads to arrests

Police clashed with a large crowd of people celebrating Pride in Manhattan on Sunday, taking some participants away in handcuffs. Video from the scene shows a large police presence with many of the officers on bikes. Some witnesses told NY1, they saw officers pepper spray members of the crowd after they were heckled and had water bottles thrown at them.
