With the many entertainment choices New York City has to offer, it can be difficult to make a choice. Look no further. "On Stage" host Frank DiLella has curated a list of “must-see” shows this week, directing you to the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway and beyond.
“Oh, Mary!”
There’s a new first lady on the boards. Emmy Award-nominee Betty Gilpin has stepped into the shoes of Mary Todd Lincoln in the hit farce “Oh, Mary!” Gilpin plays the cabaret obsessed first lady to perfection. Viewers can catch Betty in “Oh, Mary!” now playing at The Lyceum Theatre.
“Cult of Love”
Catch them before they close up shop on Broadway. “Cult of Love” is set to end its limited run on Feb. 2. In this holiday family play that’s been described as “August Osage County” with music, viewers meet the Dahl family, who are gathering for Christmas. Will it be their last? The show features an A-list company of talent, including Zachary Quinto, Mare Winningham and Shailene Woodley. “Cult of Love” is playing at The Hayes Theatre.
“Eureka Day”
Also closing soon, “Eureka Day." In this New York premiere by Jonathan Spector, viewers head to a private California school where an outbreak of mumps forces the community to analyze the elementary school’s vaccine policy. “Eureka Day” will end its limited run at The Friedman Theatre on Feb. 16.
“Kowalski”
On the Off-Broadway front, check out “Kowalski” now playing at The Duke on 42nd Street. “Kowalski” reimagines the 1947 encounter between theater legend Tennessee Williams and entertainment icon Marlon Brando, as well as the ultimate creation of “A Streetcar Named Desire."
