With the many entertainment choices New York City has to offer, it can be difficult to make a choice. Look no further. "On Stage" host Frank DiLella has curated a list of “must-see” shows this week, directing you to the best of Broadway, Off-Broadway and beyond.
Broadway Week kicks off Tuesday, Jan. 21 and continues through Feb. 9. Two-for-one deals will be available for some of the hottest shows. The following picks are from the current Broadway season.
New Musicals
“Redwood,” starring Idina Menzel, is now in previews. “Maybe Happy Ending” features Darren Criss and Helen J. Shen, and “Death Becomes Her” stars Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard.
Musical Revivals
“Gypsy” stars six-time Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald, while “Sunset Blvd.” features Olivier Award-winners Nicole Scherzinger and Tom Francis.
Classics
Deals are also available for hit shows like “Hamilton,” “MJ," “& Juliet,” “The Book of Mormon” and “Wicked”.
“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”
The Tony Award-winning play “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is still going strong since opening in 2018. The show, which has been condensed into one part, stars Matthew James Thomas as a grown up Harry.
"Nothing has really changed. The story is still there, just shorter and more concise in some ways. And I think it’s given everybody an opportunity to see it," Thomas said recently during an interview at the "On Stage" studio.
