“Sweeney Todd”
The time has finally arrived to attend the tale of “Sweeney Todd.”
The highly anticipated revival stars Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford as Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett.
The show is being helmed by “Hamilton” director Tommy Kail — featuring a 26-piece orchestra.
“Sweeney Todd” officially opens on March 26 at The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
“Camelot”
Continuing on to another classic revival featuring a big orchestra and a glorious score, Lerner and Loewe’s “Camelot” returns to Broadway March 9, courtesy of Lincoln Center Theater.
The show features a new book by screen and stage scribe, Aaron Sorkin, and directed by Bartlett Sher.
The musical stars Andrew Burnap as King Arthur, “Hamilton” alum Phillipa Soo as Guenevere and Jordan Donica as Lancelot.
“Camelot” begins previews March 9 at The Vivian Beaumont Theatre and the opening is slated for April 13.
“Life of Pi”
Also set to begin previews on Thursday, “Life of Pi.”
Based on the bestselling novel, “Life of Pi” centers around a young boy who is stranded at sea with a Bengal Tiger.
The play arrives on Broadway after winning five Olivier Awards last year in London.
Opening night for “Life of Pi” is March 30 at The Schoenfeld Theatre.
Carnegie Hall
Moving over to Carnegie Hall, a brand new musical, “Mozart: Her Story,” will be presented this weekend with some of Broadway’s best.
The show shines a spotlight on the life and talent of Nan Mozart, the sister of the legendary composer.
The musical will play Sunday and Monday at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall.
54 Below
And finally, on the cabaret front, there’s a lot happening this week at Broadway’s living room, also known as 54 Below.
Musical theater rising star Taylor Iman Jones makes her solo debut Monday and Tuesday.
Also “A Chorus Line” legend Donna McKechnie returns to the venue with her show, “Take Me to the World — The Songs of Stephen Sondheim,” from March 9 to March 11.
