Heavy rainfall and gusty winds have largely moved out of the five boroughs after battering New York City overnight Monday. Rainfall totals surpassed 2 inches, and the highest recorded wind gusts reached 60 mph.

The severe weather left thousands without power and prompted the closure of some major thoroughfares amid the early morning commute, though conditions began improving around 8 a.m.

A travel advisory remains in effect until noon. Wind advisories covering Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island, and a High Wind Watch in place for Brooklyn and Queens were in effect through Monday morning.

A Flood Watch remains in effect for all five boroughs through Monday afternoon, and southern Queens is under a Coastal Flood Warning.

Residents are urged to stay informed about changing weather conditions and exercise caution during the aftermath of the storm.
