Scott Dean is a meteorologist for the Spectrum News National Weather Team. This proud Southern native has been with Spectrum News since November 2019 and considers weather broadcasting his true calling in life. Scott has covered a wide range of major weather events since the beginning of his career in the early 2000s.

He covered the aerial coverage of the F4 tornado in 2000 that caused major damage to Ohio and the North Carolina tornado outbreak in 2011 that produced the most tornadoes in a single day to the state. He has also reported on several hurricanes, including Hurricane Sandy that devastated portions of the Mid-Atlantic coast in 2012. Scott’s most notable reporting followed Hurricane Florence in September 2018, a storm that produced historic flooding to southeast North Carolina. During this event, his team logged over 83 hours of continuous storm coverage. Scott is a member of the American Meteorological Society, and has been awarded its Broadcasting Seal.

When he isn’t reporting on weather, Scott can be found golfing, fly fishing, or enjoying eastern style North Carolina BBQ.
