Britney Hamilton is a meteorologist for the Spectrum News National Weather Team. Her interest in weather sparked in middle school when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast. She wanted to know everything about hurricanes – structure, forecasting, and impacts. This early interest in hurricanes grew into a full-fledged love for weather.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, but raised in North Carolina, Britney graduated from Providence High School in Charlotte and attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she received a Meteorology degree with minors in Mathematics and Spanish. She moved to Greensboro to attend North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University where she developed plenty of AGGIE PRIDE and received a master’s degree in Physics with a concentration in Atmospheric Science.

After grad school, Britney worked as a meteorologist in Charlotte for 4 years. She's covered countless severe weather outbreaks, hurricanes, winter storms, etc. She also spent time in Atlanta covering weather across the country and sometimes, across the globe. Britney is happy to forecast for North Carolina, an area that has played such a big role in her life.

When she's not geeking out about weather and physics, Britney enjoys experimenting with recipes, trying new restaurants, or going on a quick getaway.
