At long last, it’s the weekend! Below, you’ll find a quick guide — based on information from the MTA — to the biggest planned service changes on the city’s subways and rails.

Subway service changes

4 and 5 trains in Brooklyn and Manhattan

Between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, 4 trains won't run in Brooklyn at all, and 5 trains won't run between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Bowling Green during the day and evening, due to station work.

5 trains will be making local stops between Eastchester-Dyre Avenue and Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall every 12 minutes, and 4 trains will be running between Woodlawn and Bowling Green.

Riders can take 4 trains for service between Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Bowling Green; 2 and 3 trains for service between Borough Hall and Franklin Avenue-Medgar Evers College; and 3 trains for service between Franklin Aveune-Medgar Evers College and New Lots Avenue.

A, C and D trains in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan

Due to switch replacement, between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday, A trains won't run in either direction between 125th Street and West 4th Street-Washington Square; C trains won't run at all; and D trains won't run between 145th Street and West 4th Street-Washington Square in either direction.

A trains will run in two sections. The first is between Inwood-207th Street and 125th Street, skipping 135th Street in both directions, every 12 minutes during the day and evening. The second between Far Rockaway-Mott Avenue or Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and West 4th Street-Washington Square, and then on the ​F line between West 4th Street-Washington Square and 42nd Street-Bryant Park.

A trains will make local stops between 168th Street and 145th Street and between West 4th Street-Washington Square and Euclid Avenue throughout the weekend.

D trains, meanwhile, will also run in two sections: between Norwood-205th Street and 145th Street, and between West 4th Street-Washington Square and Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.

N and R trains in Brooklyn

R trains will not run between 36th Street and Bay Ridge-95th Street during the day and evening from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday due to structural maintenance. They will run between Forest Hills-71st Avenue and 36th Street as usual, but will run on the D line between 36th Street and Ninth Avenue. 

Free MTA shuttle buses will make R stops between 36th Street and Bay Ridge-95th Street throughout the weekend.

During late nights, meanwhile, R trains won't run at all, and Manhattan-bound N local trains will be making express stops from 59th Street to Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center. Coney Island-bound N trains will be making local stops between 36th Street and 59th Street all weekend.

Riders traveling late at night can take the N train for service between Whitehall Street and Jay Street-MetroTech; D, N and Q trains for service to and from Dekalb Avenue; and D trains or Coney Island-bound N trains for local service between Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center and 36th Street.

6 trains in the Bronx

Between 3:45 a.m. Saturday and 10 p.m. Sunday, Pelham Bay Park-bound 6​ trains will not stop between Parkchester and Pelham Bay Park due to track replacement.

Riders can take a Manhattan-bound train for service to and from the stations trains are skipping. Alternate Bronx-bound trains will terminate at 3rd Avenue-138th Street, so riders can transfer to a Pelham Bay Park-bound train to continue past that station.
