The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s new toll rates officially took effect on Sunday.
Car drivers traversing Port Authority-run bridges and tunnels without an E-ZPass will now be charged $17 by mail, up from $16, the transit agency said in a press release.
The toll is higher for vehicles with more than two axles or vehicles that have dual rear wheels, including trucks, buses and some recreational vehicles.
Both E-ZPass and non-E-ZPass toll rates for all vehicle types are available on the Port Authority’s website.
The agency is still offering a number of discount plans for drivers, it noted.
The Port Authority completed its shift to a fully cashless toll collection system last month, when the Lincoln Tunnel went cashless.
