NEW YORK — Two people were killed in a fiery crash on Manhattan’s FDR Drive early Friday morning, according to the New York City Police Department.

The incident happened just before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes near 72nd Street.

Authorities said a white Infinity was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control, crashing into a wall.

The vehicle burst into flames shortly after crashing, police said.

Two female passengers inside the vehicle were killed. Their identities were not immediately released.

Police said the driver of the Infinity, identified only as a 33-year-old man, was transported to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor injuries and burns.

All northbound lanes on the FDR Drive near 72nd Street were shut down as police continued the investigation.
