A federal judge is once again stopping the city from moving people experiencing homelessness out of hotels, the latest chapter in an ongoing legal battle this summer over the practice.
The Legal Aid Society took the city back to court on Thursday, claiming moves over the weekend were done haphazardly.
In one case, sources say, disabled people were transferred to a new hotel with no working elevator.
As a result, the judge sided with advocates, saying the city will not be able to move any more people out of hotels until it comes up with a detailed plan on how it will work.
The judge gave the city until August 19 to do so.
