After months of a window-smashing crime spree, the MTA is now asking riders to help them find the "sociopath" vandal that is causing costly damage to the No. 7 line.

The agency is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible.

Since May 8, 70 windows have been smashed on the No. 7 line, MTA officials said in a press conference on Monday, costing the cash-strapped agency hundreds of thousands of dollars.

At this time last year window-smashing crimes were “virtually non-existent,” an NYPD inspector on the case said.

Most of the vandalism has taken place in Manhattan and Queens. Repairing the trains has caused numerous delays, impacting riders from Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Sunnyside, said Patrick Foye, CEO of the MTA.

In a press conference on Saturday, the MTA said if the incidents continue it will be forced to cut back on service, in order to repair the trains.

The last window-smashing spree happened on Friday, August 21, when 21 windows were broken on two 7 trains, according to transit officials.

It costs the MTA $500 to repair each window. The agency now faces $300,000 in damages from the vandalism, at a time when it’s already struggling financially because of the pandemic.

Officials say they need help from the public to put an end to this, and that the $10,000 is worth it for all the money that has already been dumped into repairs.

The NYPD is also offering a reward of $2,500 for information on a vandal that was caught on camera smashing windows on August 1.

It is still unclear how many people are involved in these crimes.
