Work begins tomorrow morning on the new 33rd Street entrance at Penn Station.
The new entrance on 7th Avenue will provide direct access to the LIRR Main Concourse and subway.
It will include three escalators, a stairway, and an elevator.
The project will also widen the concourse and raise the ceiling height.
Six ticket windows on the LIRR concourse will be closed as part of the construction.
Four ticket machines and the alphabetical departure board will be moved.
To avoid crowds, the MTA is advising riders to use mobile tickets and to wait at the west end concourse near 8th Avenue.
The construction is scheduled to be completed by December 2020 with an estimated price tag of $600 million.
