Wednesday marked National Girls and Women in Sports Day. To celebrate the day, “News All Day” was joined by Ahsha Rolle, Director of Tennis at New York Junior Tennis and Learning.

She turned pro in 2007 and at one point ranked 82nd in the world in singles. Now, she brings her talent and passion for tennis to underserved communities here in the city. The flagship location is in the heart of the South Bronx.

The organization has programming for kids, adults and seniors. They currently serve about 85,000 kids in addition to the adults.

Rolle says the sport teaches life lessons, including discipline, hard work, and a strong work ethic. It’s also a great way to stay fit, and it’s a sport that you can play for a lifetime.

NYJTL has a clinic this weekend with Lori McNeil, who is a former top 10 professional player.
