New York Rep. George Santos could be expelled from the United States House of Representatives as early as next week.
This comes after the U.S. House Committee on Ethics released a scathing report last week that found "substantial evidence" Santos committed ethics violations and potentially broke the law.
The report alleges Santos used his campaign funds to pay for credit card debt, travel and Botox, among other things.
The report has sparked more lawmakers to support expelling Santos, even those who previously voted not to.
This all comes as Republicans look ahead to the 2024 elections, where key swing seats in New York could determine control of the House.
Ed Cox, the chairman of the New York Republican State Committee, joined host Errol Louis Tuesday night on “Inside City Hall” to talk about the future of the party in the state.
“People have the sense that New York is going in the wrong direction,” Cox said. “New Yorkers generally gave 47% of their vote to Lee Zeldin, who was unabashedly pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, close to Donald Trump. He got 47%. That is extraordinary.”
