Musician Lisa "Lisa Lisa" Velez said she didn't feel right and found an oncologist who diagnosed her with ductal carcinoma when she was 21. Her doctors found a way to give her chemo treatments, while also allowing her to perform on stage while on tour.

Velez talked about her experience growing up in a Puerto Rican home in Hells Kitchen, Manhattan, and explained what it took for her to break into the male-dominated music industry.

Velez said she's releasing new music and is holding a listening party at the end of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade, where she is this year's madrina.
