Assemblymember Tony Simone joined “In Focus” to discuss the New York Safe Haven Bill.
The legislation will protect trans youth from laws from other states that authorize a child to be removed from their parent of guardian based on the allowance of gender-affirming care.
The assemblymember, who represents Chelsea, Hell’s Kitchen, Midtown and part of the Lincoln Center area, also discussed the recent attacks on the Stonewall Inn and the history of the gay rights movement that began in the city.
Simone is the first openly gay and Latino man to represent his district.
