Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte and State Senator Alessandra Biaggi fought hard to pass the Child Victim’s Act. They spoke passionately in front of their chambers, and to their constituents about the importance of getting justice for victims and survivors. And they told their own stories of the abuse they suffered as children. Bichotte was molested by a trusted pastor. She speaks to the pain of, not only being abused, but being forced to remain silent. Biaggi says she believed she would go to her grave without telling her story. She waited 25 years to come forward. Both of them joined Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz and Assemblywoman Yu-Line Niouh in a public service announcement that was first broadcast in Times Square, telling their stories and urging survivors to come forward. They will tell their personal stories of abuse here, and talk about their determination to show other survivors that silence isn’t the best way forward.
