New York City is a multicultural hub with dozens of museums, hundreds of parks and millions of people. The number of potential things to see and do can feel overwhelming, but NY1 has you covered with some of the highlights taking place this weekend across the five boroughs.

The Year of Flaco

This new exhibition is dedicated to the legacy of Flaco, the Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped the Central Park Zoo in February 2023 and lived the next year as a free bird in the city.

The exhibition will feature photographs and videos that document Flaco’s life. It will also illuminate the dangers birds face in urban environments. Flaco died in February 2024 after colliding with a building on the Upper West Side.

Governors Island Ice Sculpture Show 

  • Saturday, Feb. 8 from noon to 3 p.m. 
  • Governors Island
  • Free and open to the public

Audiences are invited to watch as 10 artists get paired with professional ice carvers for a live sculpting event. The carving lasts from noon to 2 p.m., followed by an awards ceremony, including "People's Choice" voted on by the audience.

Cupid's Undie Run 2025

  • Saturday, Feb. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Run starts at 1:30 p.m.)

Thousands of runners will hit streets across the U.S. in their underwear as part of a fundraiser to fight neurofibromatosis, a group of genetic disorders that cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body.

Participants in New York City will make their way through a roughly 1-mile course, with an afterparty at The DL bar on the Lower East Side.

Red Envelope Show

  • Open through Feb. 22
  • Harman Projects Gallery, Manhattan
  • Open to the public

Now in its 10th year, the Red Envelope Show features the work of more than 120 artists on traditional red envelopes used for Lunar New Year gift giving.

It being the Year of the Snake, the show features many different takes on snakes, with some being friendly, fierce or references to pop culture.

Bryant Park Winter Village

Bryant Park's Winter Village includes an ice skating rink and an indoor lodge with food and drink options.

Also, as of Jan. 10, New Yorkers can reserve tickets to ride bumper cars on ice.

The Rink at Rockefeller Center

Ice skating is open for the season at The Rink at Rockefeller Center. The center's website calls it one of the city's "quintessential winter activities."
