New York City is a multicultural hub with dozens of museums, hundreds of parks and millions of people. The number of potential things to see and do can feel overwhelming, but NY1 has you covered with some of the highlights taking place this weekend across the five boroughs.

Groundhog Day

Groundhog Chuck will make his prediction Sunday morning, telling New Yorkers how many more weeks of winter we can expect.

The event will feature elected officials, as well as students who will track Chuck's prediction over the next six weeks, organizers say.

The Winter Show

  • Open through Feb. 2
  • Park Avenue Armory, Upper East Side, Manhattan

The Winter Show is the longest-running fair in the United States dedicated to fine art, antiques and design. Now in its 71st year, the show is a benefit for East Side House Settlement.

Featuring more than 70 exhibitors, items on the market have included centuries-old playing cards, paintings, sculptures, furniture, jewelry and more. Read more here.

Charity Chess Tournament

  • Satuday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Moves For A Mission, a charity started by 10-year-old competitive chess player Raza Patel, is hosting a tournament fundraiser to support the organization The Gift of Chess, which aims to donate 1 million chess sets around the world by 2030, as well as Gift of Life International, an organization that helps provide heart treatment to children in countries without access to the proper care.

There will also be a workshop with a chess grandmaster, and Raza will offer analysis on certain games.

Lunar New Year

  • Sunday, Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Bryant Park, Manhattan
  • Free and open to the public

Bryant Park will host festivities to kick off the Year of the Snake, including a kung fu demonstration, crafts and a ribbon dancing class, among others.

Bryant Park Winter Village

Bryant Park's Winter Village includes an ice skating rink and an indoor lodge with food and drink options.

Also, as of Jan. 10, New Yorkers can reserve tickets to ride bumper cars on ice.

The Rink at Rockefeller Center

Ice skating is open for the season at The Rink at Rockefeller Center. The center's website calls it one of the city's "quintessential winter activities."
