1. Judge permanently dismisses Mayor Eric Adams' federal corruption case
A judge this morning tossed Mayor Eric Adams’ federal corruption case, a month and a half after the Justice Department asked for it to be dismissed.
In an order, Manhattan federal judge Dale E. Ho dismissed Adams’ case with prejudice, meaning the charges against the mayor cannot be refiled.

2. MTA unveils first 'major' subway map redesign in nearly 50 years
The MTA has unveiled a new subway map for riders, marking the first “major redesign” since 1979, agency chair and CEO Janno Lieber said today.
The revamped map has a “diagrammatic style, employing bold, straight lines making it much easier for the eye to follow and more suitable for digital users,” the MTA said in a release.
3. Murders and shootings drop sharply in first three months of 2025, data shows
Violent crime in New York City has dropped in the first three months of 2025, according to data from the NYPD.
Murders fell from 95 to 62 during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same time frame last year, data shows. Shootings have also dropped sharply during the first three months of the year.
4. Attorney makes pitch to voters as only independent in mayoral race
With fewer than 100 days before voting begins in the New York City primary, NY1 is sitting down with candidates running for mayor.
Today, former assistant U.S. attorney Jim Walden joined “Mornings On 1” to make his case to voters as the only independent in the race.

President Donald Trump ordered the implementation of reciprocal tariffs on nations across the globe Wednesday, bucking concerns from members of his own party and volatile markets to levy import taxes on billions of dollars of products that could raise consumer costs for American households by thousands of dollars a year, at least in the short term.
Trump said at event at the White House's Rose Garden that the move, which will transform U.S. trade relations with trade partners across the globe, comes in response to years of the U.S. being “looted, pillaged, raped, plundered” by other nations, in the president's words.
6. Amazon's last-minute bid for TikTok comes as U.S. ban set to take effect Saturday
Amazon has put in a bid to purchase TikTok, a Trump administration official said today, in an eleventh-hour pitch as a U.S. ban on the platform is set to go into effect Saturday.
The official, who was not authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the Amazon offer was made in a letter to Vice President JD Vance and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.
7. Musk could be headed for a Washington exit after turbulent times at Trump's DOGE
DOGE's days appear to be numbered.
Elon Musk recently suggested that he will be done with his work in the near future. President Donald Trump told reporters this week that "at some point, he's going to be going back" to running his companies. As far as the U.S. DOGE Service, Trump said "it will end."
8. Israel's operations in Gaza expands to seize 'large areas.' Palestinians say dozens killed
Israel's military operation in the Gaza Strip is expanding to seize "large areas," the defense minister said, while officials at hospitals inside the Palestinian territory said that Israeli strikes overnight and into today had killed more than 40 people, nearly a dozen of them children.
Israel's offensive in the Palestinian territory was "expanding to crush and clean the area" of militants and "seizing large areas that will be added to the security zones of the State of Israel," Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a written statement.
