Earlier this week, the NYPD reported that subway crime was down 15.1% in February compared to the same period last year.

The drop came as more officers have been deployed to trains and platforms.

It was a year ago that Gov. Kathy Hochul launched a subway safety plan, increasing the presence of law enforcement in the system after a series of high-profile crimes. And as the race for mayor heats up, crime and safety in the subways remains one of the major issues.

Former Interim New York City Transit President Sarah Feinberg, who served under former governor, now-candidate for mayor, Andrew Cuomo, recently wrote an op-ed, “Want to fix the subway? Stop Asking It To Be What it’s Not” for Vital City.

Feinberg joined “The Rush Hour” on Thursday to discuss the piece.
