A man and a woman were arrested on charges including animal cruelty after several pit bulls bolted out of a Staten Island home and bit at least three people on Staten Island, the NYPD said Wednesday.
Rodney Jones, 48, of Staten Island, and Shontay Holland, 29, of Brooklyn, each face four counts of reckless endangerment, 10 counts of aggravated animal cruelty and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the Tuesday incident, police said.
Attorney information for the two people arrested wasn’t immediately available Wednesday.
Police said six adult pit bulls escaped Jones’ New Brighton home through a window and began attacking people Tuesday afternoon. The dogs bit a 13-year-old girl and a 19-year-old woman on their legs, and a 2-year-old girl on her side and left arm, police said.
All three were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the attack, according to police and law enforcement sources.
A neighbor, meanwhile, told NY1 she saw one of the dogs attack a teenage boy as well, but said the boy refused treatment.
