As we move toward colder weather, you may start to spend more time indoors. It's a great time to read a book.
With that in mind, September is National Library Card Sign-up Month.
At the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, they have more than just books to check out. Library Director John Spears says there are tools and programs geared toward academic success for all ages. There’s also access to high-speed internet, computers, printing, hotspots and more. You can get access to all of it with a library card.
Spears calls the library a place to supplement what you’re learning in school.
"During the pandemic, in a lot of schools, the reading at grade level actually went down and you had some children who suffered academically," said Spears. "The important thing to realize is that it often doesn't matter what you read, just as long as you do read."
Library cards at the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library are free.
