WILDWOOD, Mo. — One of Wildwood’s last largest tracts of land in its Town Center will turn into a neighborhood for more than 115 residents.
The city approved a proposal in February for McKelvey Homes to develop the 50-acre property at the southwest corner of Routes 109 and 100 into “The Reserve.”
With tree removal and grading work, the site will undergo a “dramatic” transformation, according to the city’s website.
Tree removal was completed before the March 31 deadline that complies with federal regulations to protect bat habitats, according to Thomas Lee, city administrator.
The work was confined to the boundaries of the Town Center area, 2% of the city’s 68 miles of land mass.
McKelvey Homes is now grading the site, which is taking place in four phases starting in the back and moving toward Route 109 frontage, Lee said.
Once completed, the new neighborhood will have 115 single-family homes on individual lots.
“Future residents will enjoy community amenities such as walking trails, a playground and a scenic overlook,” Lee said.
