ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Some St. Louis County races resulted in razor thin margins after Tuesday’s election in Ballwin, Jennings and Eureka.

Candidates may petition the circuit court for a recount if they were defeated by less than 1% of the vote, according to the St. Louis County Board of Elections.

Ballwin’s aldermanic race between Tequila Gray and Bill Hinds ended in a difference of nine votes, according to the unofficial election results.

Gray received 468 votes, which was 44.6% percent of the vote. Hinds received 459 votes, 43.8% of the vote, resulting in a .8% difference.

The city Jennings council race between Denise Woods and Yolanda Marie Talley ended in a difference of one vote.

Woods received 67 votes, which was 36.2% of the vote, and Talley received 66 votes, which was 35.7% of the vote.

This resulted in .5% difference.

Losing parties can request for recounts after the election is certified, according to officials, which will be by April 22.

The St. Louis County Board of Elections also will hold a state-mandated, post-election manual recount required after every election.

In Eureka, the Fire Protection District's Proposition F failed by five votes.

Prop F would have provided funding to retain experienced firefighters and paramedics, recruit new hires, invest in state-of-the-art, lifesaving equipment, and improve fire stations and infrastructure.

“We wanted to thank everyone for their consideration of Proposition F,” a Facebook post states on Eureka Fire Protection District’s page. “Unfortunately, the initiative did not pass.”
