QUEENS, N.Y. — Police say a two-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a car Sunday night.

Police say Leilani Rosales' mother was unloading packages from the back of a car on 216th Street and 38th Avenue in Bayside.

The child then wandered off to the front of the car.

That's when the mother's boyfriend began to drive the car away and struck the girl.

She was taken to the hospital with severe trauma and was pronounced dead.

No charges are expected to be filed.
