Typically theatre lovers have take a trip into Manhattan to see a show, but this time Broadway is taking a trip to them.
The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment presented 'Broadway in the Boros,' it's second event this season. It’s a series of free outdoor lunchtime musical performances featuring cast members and musicians from Broadway’s current hit shows.
In honor of Pride Month musicians from musicals The Prom" and Be More Chill performed at 77th Street and 37th Road in Jackson Heights.
Kate Marilley, and understudy for The Prom, says she's happy to be a part of bringing the show to a new audience.
“We are bringing Broadway, specifically the Prom, to areas, to boroughs of New York City, where people can’t come into New York City in Manhattan and spend the money, which Broadway tickets are so expensive. So we get to share our beautiful show with people if they can’t come to us, we’ll come to them.”
The Next 'Broadway in the Boros' event is set for noon on July 12th at 140 Benchley Place in the Bronx.
