QUEENS, N.Y. - Fire officials remain on the scene of a massive three-alarm fire that tore through a Queens commercial building Monday morning.
Fire officials say it began around 7:30 a.m. in the basement of a medical supply and toy company located at 128-20 14th Avenue in College Point.
Fire officials say there were some oxygen tanks inside that exploded in the fire.
Three firefighters suffered minor injuries at the scene.
One male employee who was inside at the time of the fire was taken to Jacoby Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Other employees who were inside at the time were able to evacuate.
Fire officials at the scene say the wind and extreme cold made fighting the fire difficult but were able to prevent it from spreading to neighboring buildings.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
