QUEENS, N.Y. - Three people are recovering after their car crashed into a building in Queens early Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. near 122nd Street and Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill.
People working at a store across the street tried to help before authorities came.
"I was inside and there was a big bang, so I came outside to see what happened. Then we saw the car across the street. We were trying to give them a helping hand. Smoke was coming through the front. It could explode. So they put the extinguisher and the smoke stopped," said one witness.
The driver and two passengers were taken to Jamaica Hospital.
The passengers suffered minor injuries but the driver was listed in critical condition.
