New York City saw historic levels of rainfall in some areas on Friday amid an intense storm that brought flash flooding to much of Brooklyn and Queens.

Driving was treacherous at times as heavy flooding impacted multiple highways, including the Belt Parkway, the FDR Drive, the Bronx River Parkway, Grand Central Parkway and the Major Deegan Expressway.

The storm also brought back memories of Hurricane Ida in 2021, when 11 people were killed, including some who became trapped inside basement apartments.

Cleanup from the storm continued throughout the weekend into the workweek, and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards joined “Mornings On 1” Monday to provide an update on the storm’s impact.
