After undergoing years of restoration work, the Waldorf Astoria New York will begin taking reservations Tuesday.

The historic hotel, located in the heart of Midtown, is set to open its doors in spring 2025, according to hotel officials.

“Waldorf Astoria New York has always been the place to be in New York City and whether you are a visitor or a New Yorker, we know so many around the globe have their own fond stories with our hotel,” managing director Luigi Romaniello of Waldorf Astoria New York said in a news release. “Visitors returning to the property will notice many of the historical elements, from the Grand Ballroom to the lobby with the famous Waldorf Astoria clock, have been restored to bring back the original grandeur, while thoughtful enhancements were incorporated for today’s traveler.”

The hotel was originally slated to reopen in 2020; restoration work, however, was plagued by delays.

The Waldorf Astoria’s history spans more than a century, with roots dating back to 1893. Its original home was demolished to pave the way for the iconic Empire State Building.

In 1931, the “new” Waldorf Astoria graced Park Avenue, boasting more than 40 stories. With construction costs exceeding $40 million ($639 million in today’s currency), the building stood as one of the world’s largest and most luxurious hotels during that era.

Architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon led the restoration efforts, the press release said.

The revamped hotel will boast 375 hotel rooms in addition to private condominiums for sale.

The hotel also features a spa spanning 30,000 square feet, a fitness center and 43,000 square feet of event space, including a grand ballroom.
