Mora and Rivera were both promoted to detective for their actions.
A third officer shot and killed the gunman.
Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell promoted Sumit Sulan to detective last week.
He was given shield number 332 to symbolize the three officers from the 32nd precinct.
A mural in honor of Jason Rivera has also been unveiled in his home neighborhood of Washington Heights.
Rivera grew up close to 204th Street and Sherman Avenue, where the mural now adorns the wall of Washington Heights Academy.
