NEW YORK — Major traffic delays were being reported in Manhattan during the Monday morning rush due to climate change protests.
Citizen app video showed traffic at a standstill on the northbound FDR Drive near Houston Street.
The NYPD says another group of protesters were blocking traffic near West 34th Street and 11th Avenue.
Members of the group Extinction Rebellion NYC are urging President Joe Biden to push through his climate agenda with the “Build Back Better” plan.
The group tweeted the protests are not meant to annoy commuters, but rather to force the public to confront the true dangers of unchecked climate change.
