NEW YORK - The last surviving sibling of President John F. Kennedy has died.

The family of Jean Kennedy Smith says she died Wednesday at her home in Manhattan.

She was 92.

Born into an American political dynasty, her brothers John and Edward, served as Massachusetts senators and her brother, Robert, was a U.S. Senator representing New York.

Jean Kennedy Smith dabbled in politics as well, having served as the U.S. Ambassador to Ireland under President Bill Clinton where she helped broker peace between Ireland and Northern Ireland.

In 2011, President Barack Obama honored Kennedy Smith with the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work with children with disabilities.

She is survived by four children and seven grandchildren.
