An event postponed over coronavirus fears turned into an opportunity to help a local charity.
The enCourage Kids Foundation 35th Anniversary Gala was postponed Wednesday due to the spread of COVID-19 in the city.
But the 500 meals that would've been served at Cipriani on Wall Street did not go to waste. Instead, crews from the nonprofit City Harvest picked them up to deliver to people in need at the Bowery Mission.
Organizers say while they were disappointed they had to postpone the event, they’re happy it allowed them to give back to a worthy cause.
