NEW YORK - The Cherry Blossom Festival on Roosevelt Island over the weekend drew such a large crowd this weekend that it led to a crush of people at the island's subway station.
Video posted on Twitter shows what riders were up against as they tried to make their way to the island on Saturday.
City Councilman Ben Kallos tweeted out that the record turnout also led to huge lines for the New York City Ferry and the Roosvelt Island tram, and suggested the city needs better public transit infrastructure.
The MTA temporarily suspended subway service to Roosevelt Island on Saturday afternoon because of the crowds.
