A man died after being shot at a Brooklyn subway station Sunday, officials said.
The incident occurred around 8 p.m. on a Manhattan-bound 3 train that was pulling into the Franklin Avenue station in Crowns Heights, police said.
The NYPD said multiple shots were fired, hitting Richard Henderson, 45, of Brooklyn, once in the back and shoulder. He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, the shooting began over a dispute over loud music on the train. It is believed that Henderson was not involved in the initial dispute, and it is not clear if he was the intended target.
This is the first homicide on transit in 2024, officials said, but the second shooting on a train in less than two months.
According to the NYPD, two people were shot on a Manhattan-bound C train on Nov. 28.
The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made, police said.
