Special elections will be held in the coming weeks to fill a Brooklyn state Senate seat vacated by Simcha Felder and a Staten Island City Council seat previously held by Joe Borelli.
The special election for the seat in the 22nd Senate District, which includes Borough Park and Midwood, will be held on Tuesday, May 20, according to the New York City Board of Elections.
Felder vacated the seat after he won a special election in the 44th Council District in Brooklyn last month. He held the seat for more than a decade, from 2013 to 2025.
Early voting will begin Sunday, May 10 and last through Sunday, May 18, the BOE said.
The special election for the 51st Council District seat, meanwhile — which represents much of Staten Island — will take place on Tuesday, April 29.
Borelli resigned from the seat at the end of January to take on the role of managing director with the lobbying firm Chartwell Strategy Group.
Candidates for the City Council race include Frank Morano, Clifford Hagen and Griffin Fossella, the son of Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella.
Early voting for that election with begin on Monday, April 21 and run through Sunday, April 27.
