WORCESTER, Mass. — Hundreds of people packed the Common behind Worcester City Hall Saturday as they took part in the nationwide "Hands Off" movement. The protests were held across the country Saturday, and were a means for many to speak out against President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The phrase "hands off" echoed throughout downtown during an event which saw a number of speakers, musical performances and hundreds carrying homemade signs.
Organizers say the rally is also their way of standing against the cuts made by the newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. They says things like Medicaid, Medicare and veterans services are critical, and should not be getting gutted.
The Trump Administration says DOGE is their answer to finding and eliminating waste and fraud inside the federal government.
Attendees at the rally said they're demanding a stop to what they describe as chaos since President Trump assumed office in January.
"America was conned by a master con man who promised lower prices but is dramatically increasing our costs because of the senseless tariffs he has implemented," said one speaker.
"They want to take everything for themselves and their billionaire allies," yelled another speaker. "Shame. Today we say hands off."
