Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival

A city tradition dating back to the 1870s, New Yorkers celebrate Easter by wearing festive headwear — some sporting impressively elaborate designs.
Pageanteers parade down Fifth Avenue as part of the celebration, marching north from 49th Street to 57th Street.

Earth Day on Governors Island

A free and family-friendly event, Earth Day celebrations on Governors Island include an island-wide scavenger hunt, science exhibits and a tree stamping art activity.
There will also be live music and educational programming on climate and the enviornment.
"Root in Peace" is another Earth Day event Saturday for New Yorkers to hold funerals for their dead plants and turn them into compost. Learn more here.

Frick Collection

The museum at the former home of industrialist and art patron Henry Clay Frick has reopened after being closed for a multi-year renovation project.
The collection of European paintings from the 14th to 19th centuries originally opened in 1935, but the second floor has always been closed to the public — until now.
The grand staircase is now open for visitors to check out an entirely new suite of galleries. Read more here.
New York International Auto Show

Celebrating 125 years, the New York International Auto Show hosts makes and models from across the industry, including some exotic brands.
Organizers say there is "no better place to research your next new car." The annual automobile exhibition also features retro rides, test tracks and other specialty vehicles.
Cars will also be on display in Brooklyn Saturday for Wheels of NYC, as more than 100 classic cars fill a warehouse at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Big Umbrella Festival

A two-and-a-half week-long festival created specifically for a neurodiverse audience of all ages, companies from across the world come together to provide a variety of sensory-friendly entertainment, including music, theater, dance and comedy.

Fashioning Wonder: A Cabinet of Curiosities

Nearly 200 garments and accessories are on display at the Fashion Institute of Technology's museum in Chelsea.
Many are being showcased for the first time from the museum's permanent collection, selected for their "rarity, beauty, or originality." Learn more here.
NYBG Orchid Show

New Yorkers are invited to experience all things orchid at the New York Botanical Garden's 22nd edition of its annual orchid show.
This year's theme is "Mexican Modernism," with the orchids displayed in "settings inspired by the bold, multicolored designs of architect Luis Barragán."

Returning for its 15th year, Smorgasburg — an outdoor food bazaar with more than 70 vendors — is back for the season.

'Wish You Were Here'
The Grolier Club, the nation's oldest and largest society for book lovers, known as bibliophiles, is hosting an exhibit featuring items documenting New York City's evolution from 1807 to 1940.
There are guidebooks, viewbooks, photobooks, maps and postcards, among other items, all from the collection of Mark Tomasko, who began gathering them in 1969. Learn more here.

A series of 10 immersive exhibits brings visitors on a cosmic adventure through outer space.
Each space has a different activity, from stepping inside a black hole or bouncing through a swirling vortex to exploring a volcanic planet.

At the largest amusement park in the city, returning visitors may notice some new arcade games and renovated retail outlets.
For now, the park is only open on weekends. After Memorial Day, it will be open every day.
New Exhibit on Intrepid's History

A fully intact World War II FG-1D Corsair fighter-bomber is the centerpiece of a new permanent exhibit at the Intrepid Museum.
The 10,500-square-foot space featuring never-before-seen artifacts takes visitors through the aircraft carrier's history during World War II, the Cold War, the Space Race and the Vietnam War.

A Century of 'The New Yorker'

An exhibit at the New York Public Library is celebrating 100 years of "The New Yorker" magazine.
The display features cover art throughout the decades, documents from the publication's founding, historical photographs and rare manuscripts.
