A 16-year-old boy faces charges including murder in connection with Monday’s fatal shooting at a Bronx subway station, authorities said.
The boy, whose name wasn’t released, was arrested Thursday on charges of murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, the NYPD said.
The shooting stemmed from a dispute between two groups of teens that happened on board a northbound 4 train Monday afternoon, NYPD Chief of Transit Michael Kemper said at a briefing.
One of the teens pulled out a gun and began shooting at passengers as the train pulled into the Mount Eden Avenue 4 train station in Mount Eden, Kemper said.
One person, 35-year-old Obed Beltran-Sanchez, was shot and killed during the incident, police said.
Five others — a 14-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, a 28-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and a 71-year-old man — were shot and injured, the NYPD said.
The 14-year-old boy has since been arrested in connection with a separate shooting that happened on Jan. 15, according to police.
