As the New York state department of education proposes regulations for instruction in nonpublic schools, Errol discussed the debate over standards with Naftuli Moster, who has advocated for changes for many years. The executive director of the group Young Advocates for Fair Education was raised in Borough Park, Brooklyn, and shared his experience attending Yeshivas, which are traditional Jewish schools. He also explained what the state is proposing and the different ways schools will be able to prove what education officials call “substantial equivalency” in classroom instruction.
